Smokefree Korea???

Starting September, people will be encouraged not to smoke at bus stops in Seoul. The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to launch a campaign designating all bus stops, along with 10 park complexes in the city, as nonsmoking areas. With this initiative they plan to reduce the risks of secondhand smoke and burning incidents from thrown away cigarettes.

The ban is not completely enforced yet and citizens will initially be asked not to smoke, however, they hope that in the long-term it will reduce the number of smokers in the country. A good start in my opinion and it will be interesting to see how the large tobacco companies react. I am sure there will be some kind of campaign from their side.
